    Determinación del Límite Exterior de la Plataforma Continental [online] IOC/OTGA/STC Argentina/COPLA Argentina

    Curso teórico-práctico que aborda los aspectos científicos, técnicos y jurídicos necesarios para determinar el límite exterior de la plataforma continental

    Objetivos

     El objetivo del curso es proveer los conocimientos necesarios para proceder al establecimiento del límite exterior de la plataforma continental de acuerdo al artículo 76 de la Convención de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Derecho del Mar (CONVEMAR),  elaborar la presentación ante la Comisión de Límites de la Plataforma Continental (CLPC) y, eventualmente, participar en las sesiones de análisis de una presentación ante la CLPC.  Se analizarán los aspectos jurídicos, científicos y técnicos involucrados. Se transmitirá la experiencia de la Argentina, tanto en el proceso de preparación como en la etapa de análisis de la presentación por parte de la CLPC. Al final de este curso, el alumno debería poder diseñar un plan de trabajo exitoso para la elaboración de una presentación del límite exterior de la plataforma continental de cualquier Estado ribereño ante la Comisión de Límites de la Plataforma Continental (CLPC) y haber adquirido un conocimiento acabado del proceso establecido en la CONVEMAR.

    Launch of the IOC/OGA/VLIZ Biological Data Management 2024 (self-paced course)

    This online, fully self-paced training course provides a comprehensive introduction for the management and archive of marine biological data, including the guiding principles of biological data management and typical responsibilities for data manager. Several types of biological data will be tackled, including observational data, image-derived data and omics data and how these data can be formatted, standardized and quality controlled before being submitted to wider regional, national and international initiatives.

    By the end of this course, participants will be able to describe the core tasks required for the processing and distributing of biological marine data, explain the importance of following standards, both for the data and the metadata and identify possible data flow mechanisms and pathways to ensure their data are shared as widely as possible, thereby stimulating re-use.

    Implementing the Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS) architecture [self-paced]

    The International Oceanographic Data Exchange (IODE) of IOC-UNESCO - together with regional partners across the globe - has developed an inclusive Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS) to allow digital stakeholders to reliably share and discover key ocean data. ODIS is built by its participants: anyone with data to share can become a node in the ODIS network. During this course, participants will be trained in how to link their systems into ODIS and to make them a more visible and actionable part of the ocean’s digital ecosystem.
